John L. Stanley, 78, of Tecumseh, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
He was born June 11, 1944, in Lufkin, Texas, the son of Robert Lee and Doris Atrelle (Carswell) Stanley. He was a 1962 graduate of Lufkin High School.
John owned and operated the Big 4 Appliance Repair in Lufkin for many years until selling the business in 1984, and relocating to Tecumseh, Missouri. His most recent employment was with G & D Ice in Mountain Grove, Missouri, until retiring.
John married Betty Joyce Harrell on April 9, 1965, in Lufkin, Texas. They shared almost 58 years together until she preceded him in death on February 13, 2023. Survivors include his son, Robert H. Stanley and his wife, Gina of Topeka, Kansas; one granddaughter, Vicki Singer and husband, Zach of Saint Louis, Missouri; one great-granddaughter, Clara Singer of Saint Louis, Missouri; his sister, Faye Stanley and her husband, Arthur of Rockwall, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jean Humphrey; and his brother, Barry Stanley.
John enjoyed working and staying busy, especially remodeling and doing projects around the home.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel in Topeka, Kansas, is assisting the family.
