Richard L. "Dick" Loy, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born July 8, 1937 in Barnard, Kansas, the son of Harry M. and Flossie M. (English) Loy.

Dick graduated from Barnard Rural High School in 1955 and attended Kansas State University. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Dick's military career spanned for over 16 years before retiring. He had previously resided in Salina, Cawker City, Kansas and lived in Topeka since 2004. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Dick enjoyed farming and playing Bingo with his many friends who were very important to him.

Dick married Linda C. Loy on May 24, 1959 in Barnard. She preceded him in death on August 10, 2006. He later married Karla R. Gaines on February 22, 2016 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include children, Susan M. Loy of Topeka, Carol L. Loy of Salina, Larry D. Loy of Salina, Nicole (Kyle) Marshall of Seattle, Washington, Brandon Gaines of Baltimore, Maryland, five grandchildren, Katie, Michael, Sophia, Sammy and Bryce, and his brother, Loren Loy of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Dick was preceded in death by one son, Michael S. Loy and his four siblings.

Private Graveside inurnment services will be held at the Kansas Veteran's Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas at a later date. A public Celebration of Dick’s Life will be announced as soon as possible.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
