Maurice Burton Allshouse, 93, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

He was born November 22, 1929, in Berthold, North Dakota, the son of John and Esther (Buen) Allshouse. He was a 1948 graduate of Berthold High School. He served in the U.S. Army.

Maurice was the Kansas Sales Director for American Family Insurance for 37 years until retiring at the age of 65. He then pursued his passion for farming on his family farm in North Dakota. This successful endeavor that he loved lasted until he retired at the age of 88.

Maurice married Dorothy M. Barnett the day after Christmas in 1951 in Berthold, North Dakota. They moved from North Dakota to Kansas in 1972. He and Dorothy were dedicated members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Topeka. They were blessed with five children of which 4 are surviving, and 68 years of marriage until her passing on December 2, 2020.

Survivors include his children, Deborah Martin (Kathy), Mark Allshouse (Susan), Brent Allshouse (Cherish), Marshal Allshouse (Amy), son-in-law Steve Domnanish, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Barbara Domnanish.

Maurice enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, farming and working outdoors. He also enjoyed weekly breakfast and lunch with his pals. Most recently, he enjoyed sharing his experience of being selected last year for the military Honor Flight sponsored by Wamego High School.

Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2021 SW 29th St, Topeka, KS 66611. Inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
