A'Lanee Denise Shorter, affectionately known as Lanee, graced our lives briefly but left an indelible mark that will forever be cherished. Born on February 28, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas, the joyful spirit of this cheerful little girl shone brightly until her untimely passing on July 19, 2025, also in Topeka.
From her earliest days, Lanee was a beacon of happiness, making friends wherever she went with her infectious smile and delightful personality. She had an extraordinary ability to brighten the days of those around her, profoundly impacting her family and friends. Her laughter echoed in the hearts of everyone she met, reminding us all to embrace life with joy and enthusiasm.
Lanee was a curious and adventurous soul, learning and growing with remarkable speed. She was proud to master new skills, including using a fork as she dashed around, reminding her parents, Tyrone and Jaliyah Shorter, to stay on their toes. Her excitement was palpable, especially when she would clap and beam brightly whenever she received praise. Lanee adored food of all kinds, demonstrating an adventurous palate even for spicy dishes, which brought delight to her family's mealtimes.
In every opportunity to capture a moment in time, Lanee's radiant smile illuminated the lens. She had a special fondness for having her picture taken, a testament to her joyful spirit and love for life's little moments. The simple act of waving goodbye was one of her favorites, embodying her bright and carefree nature that will always be remembered.
Lanee was surrounded by loving family, including her cherished sister, Aniyah Shorter, who shared in the joy of her playful discoveries. Her great-grandmother, Marilyn Shorter, whom we now hold in our memories, watched over Lanee from above, creating an everlasting bond that transcends time.
Though her time with us was all too short, A'Lanee Denise Shorter's cheerful essence serves as a reminder to embrace love, joy, and the beautiful moments in life. We will forever remember her and keep her spirit alive in our hearts.
