Alice Brown age 87 of Carbondale, Kansas died peacefully in Topeka, KS on January 10, 2026.
Alice was born on May 30, 1938 in Oklahoma to Alta Mae Smith (Kirkham) and Carl Clayton Bain.
Alice worked for Jostens years ago when her and her late husband Mike Brown moved to Kansas.
She absolutely loved spending time with her family. Family gatherings consisted of fresh warm loaves of bread straight out of the bread maker and hours of card games.
Alice was a master at most everything artistic. She was a master at drawing, sewing, and crocheting among other things. She attended many craft shows throughout her life selling the things she made in her spare time. She was well known for her homemade dish scrubbies.
When Alice wasn’t spending time with her family and creating her masterpieces you could find her playing bingo or sitting at the casino playing the penny slots. She LOVED going to the casino. Alice will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters Michele Jerles (Jay) of Edmond, OK; Debra Harrison of Shawnee, OK; Beatrice Hite (Greg) of Pittsburg, KS; Chris Cowan of Oskaloosa, KS; son Charles Mowery (Raymola) of Carbondale, KS; sister Becky Oliva (Henry) of Oklahoma City, OK; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Michael “Mike” Brown, grandson Michael Mowery, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
