Allen H. Martin died on February 27, 2026 at the age of 81. He was born in Rockville Center, New York and grew up and graduated high school in Bay Shore, New York He served in the United States Army for 12 years, including tours in Vietnam and Europe. After military service, Allen worked in several professions but primarily as a human relations specialist in Manhattan, Lawrence and Topeka.
He married Mary Jane Barron in 1966 and is survived by three adult children: Celeste Martin, Jim Martin and Yvette Reynolds (Scott Reynolds) and a sister Elyse Mueller and granddaughters, Haley and Rain Smith.
He later married Barbara Lewerenz in 1986, who survives at home. Allen was step-father to Victor Lewerenz, Heidi Crow and Tina Holland (Brian Holland) and grandchildren, Abigail and Madeleine Holland and Jacob and Lucas Crow.
He will be remembered by his family as a generous and loving husband, father, step-father and grandfather.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Marys Chapel in Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 SW 8th Av., Topeka, Ks 66603
The family of Al Martin will be forever grateful to the hospice staff of the Colmery-O’Neill Veterans Hospice Care Unit for their dedication and loving care. Memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 2200 SW Gage Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas, 66622.
Private family burial will occur at a later date at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Riley.
