Billy H. "Bill" Clemmons, 86, of Topeka, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at a Topeka hospital. He was born April 3, 1937, in Macks Creek, Missouri, the son of Eldon and Fern (Moulder) Clemmons.
Bill graduated from Macks Creek High School. He was a member of the Kansas Army National Guard where he served for 25 years, reaching the rank of E7. His first railroad job was at the East Terminal in Kansas City, otherwise known as Union Station and later was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years before retiring. Bill was a member of the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church where he was a charter board member of Heights of Learning Day Care Center and also a charter member of the Shawnee Heights Optimist Club.
Bill married Sarah M. Kleppe on September 12, 1959 in Robinson, Kansas. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2016.
Survivors include children, Marty Williams of Topeka, Dale (Kate) Clemmons of Lawrence, Bryan (Rhonda) Clemmons of Topeka, Mark (Elizabeth) Clemmons of Olathe, grandchildren, Amanda Williams, Dylan (Tim) Hutton, Michelle Williams, Mitchell (Ellie) Clemmons, Taylor (Rachael) Clemmons, Connor Clemmons, Sarah Lynn Clemmons, Maguire Clemmons, great-grandsons, Asa Clemmons and Lee Clemmons, his siblings, Peggy Cooper and Carl (Beverly) Clemmons and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was blessed to have many friends which included Curt Lewis and family along with the A&A Auto And Truck Parts family.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Bill will lie in state from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 at the church where the casket will be open until 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, 6020 SE 44th St., Tecumseh, Kansas 66542 or to the organization of the donor's choice. Bill's wishes would also be for you to spend quality time with your family as his family was important to him.
