Charles R. "Chuck" Elkins, 77, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. He was born January 12, 1949 in Bakersfield, California, the son of Fred C. and Alwyn "Gail" (Hyland) Elkins.

He began employment with the Santa Fe Railroad at the age of eighteen in San Bernardino, California as a locomotive machinist before transferring to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka in 1992. Elkins of Mossy Rock, Washington, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Kathleen "Kate" Heasley of Yachats, Oregon, William "Bill" (Susan) Elkins of Weare, New Hampshire, and Donald "Don" (Shelly) Elkins of Pleasanton, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James "Jim" Elkins.
