Cinda Sue Henderson

Cinda Sue (Foster) Henderson, 74, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday July 22, 2025.

She was born February 16, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence “Nolan” and Aleta (Berger) Foster. She was a 1969 graduate of Linn High School. She received her bachelor’s (1973) and master’s (1998) degrees from Washburn University. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

Cinda grew up in the small farming community of Linn, KS. She was active in high school theater and 4H. She played the clarinet and was a twirler in the marching band.

Cinda spent many years as a teacher and later a stay-at-home mother, nurturing her family with unwavering support, wisdom, and gentleness. She retired from USD 501 as a special education teacher in 2012.

Cinda was a lifelong Catholic. A woman of quiet strength and deep devotion, Cinda dedicated her life to her family. She was a steady, selfless presence, always putting the needs of others before her own, never asking for credit or praise.

Cinda married Thomas “Tom” C. Henderson on April 8, 1972. Cinda was a proud Ichabod who also cheered for the Jayhawks. She played racquetball for many years and served as the racquetball director at Wood Valley Racquet Club where she organized tournaments and events, as well as coaching both her sons, traveling with them to competitions. She enjoyed board and card games with the family, as well as the occasional round of golf.

Cinda was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2024. She is survived by her two sons, Keith (Stefanie) Henderson of Lawrence; and Kent (Gigi) Henderson of Topeka and five grandchildren, Landon, Josephine, Annie, Evelyn, and Maddie; her brother Larry (Barbara) Foster of Omaha, NE, and her twin sister, Linda Foster of Spring Hill, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law.

Cinda’s life was a testament to her love of family and steadfast devotion. She will be missed deeply and remembered always.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday July 31, 2025, at Christ the King Church, 5973 S.W. 25th St., Topeka, KS, with a public viewing at 9:30 a.m. and service at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at the Church with Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
