Connie Fay Cooper, 91, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, while in hospice care in Topeka, Kansas. She was born March 25, 1934, in Murray, Kentucky, the daughter of Carl and Nora (Tidwell) Dowdy. She met her husband while working as a tele typist for Cargill in Kansas City and, after marrying, Connie raised five children near Moscow, Kansas while keeping the books for Cooper, Grain & Lumber in Cave, Kansas, working as a school bus driver for USD No. 209 (Moscow Schools), and serving as the hostess for the First Baptist Church in Satanta, Kansas.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Ron Cooper, her parents, brothers Isaac Dowdy and Carl Thomas Dowdy, sister Nancy (Dowdy) Hays, on October 28, 2014.
Survivors include her five children: daughter, Melinda Cooper of Ft Collins, CO; sons, Daniel (Tamera) Cooper of Oakley, KS; David (Stacey) Cooper of Topeka, KS; daughters, Teresa Cooper of Ft. Collins, CO and Rachel Cooper of Rifle, CO; ten grandchildren, Joshua (Nikki) Cooper, Zach (Shanlyn) Cooper, Shannon Cooper, Atticus Cooper, Alexander Cooper, Bryce Cooper, Maxwell Cooper, Joshua Cooper, and Scout Cooper; and three great grandchildren.
Connie enjoyed crocheting and cooking. She was known for her crocheted lap blankets and her holiday breads as Christmas gifts for the teachers and administrators at Moscow Schools. As a church hostess, Connie could cook for 50 easier than she could for 2.
A celebration of life service will be held at University United Methodist Church on August 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be streamed live via Facebook Live.
