Dale Eugene Blasing

Dale Eugene “Blaze” Blasing, 94, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Midland Hospice House.

He was born November 23, 1930, in Zeandale, Kansas, the son of Dean and Katharine (Marks) Blasing. He attended Manhattan High School and earned his GED in 1982.

He served in the United States Army National Guard from May 6, 1948, to 1990 when he retired honorably as a Master Sergeant. Dale worked as a small instrument repairman.

Blaze was a member of the Holton KS Country Golf Club where he spent many years with the men’s golf group. He scored a Hole in One and was always entertaining to be around. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Matthew’s Catholic Church of Topeka.

Dale was also a member of the TWA travel club and traveled around the world experiencing new adventures and meeting interesting people along the way.

Dale married Betty Jean Fink in 1954, they divorced. From this union, they had five children; Deborah, Beverly, Paul, Karen and Teresa (Tess).

He then married Gloria A Seip and farmed cattle West of Holton. They later divorced.

Survivors include, Daughter, Debbie Murphy of Belton MO. Her children; Nathan (Melissa), Justin and daughter Michelle. Daughter Beverly Blasing of Freeport, FL, and her daughter Briana (Shawn) Kuszak of Topeka. Son, Paul (Kathy) Blasing of Topeka with their daughters; Kristyn (Jeff) Brown of Topeka, and Jamie (Bryan) Bahr of Olathe, KS. Karen Valesano of Hazelwood, MO, and son Adam (Brittany) Losson of Olathe, KS. Daughter Tess Counts of Hazelwood, MO; son, Matthew (Jamie) Counts of Loveland, CO. Dale is also survived by his 13 great-grandchildren, and sister, Patricia Simon

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Katharine Blasing, Sisters; Cecilia Reznicek, Mary Kay Walsh, Dorothy Dyer, and brother Larry Blasing.

Blaze enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren, Titan Osburn; Mackenzie, Makayla and Emma Rose Murphy; Ayden and Mason Gore, Jaxson Brown; Avery and Kennedy Bahr; Elias and Elsie Claire Losson; Marcus and Amelia Counts.

Blaze was an avid sports fan, especially football. He followed K-State, and the KC Chiefs. He also watched the KC Royals and St. Louis Cardinals.

The family will receive family and friends at 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2025, at Dove Cremations & Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66610. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the ceremony. Dale will be laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Ogden, KS at a later date.
