David Eugene Griffin, 64, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

He was born November 29, 1960, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of William and Rosalieen (Drummond) Griffin. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1979. He played the saxophone in his middle school band.

David was employed as a custodian beginning with Cardinal Custodial for 25 years.

David is survived by his childhood best friend Todd Mendel whom he was in Boy Scouts Troop #7 with through First Christian Church and his beloved cat, Shadow. He is also survived by his guardians, Randi Grubbs and Olga Hennessey from TARC.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalieen Griffin, and father, William L Griffin.

David loved cats and was a huge collector of dye cast cars, model cars hot wheel and matchbox cars collecting over 1500. He took great pride in his 1994 Oldsmobile Ciera and enjoyed going to the local car shows. He also enjoyed watching Nascar races. All who met him, said he was a kind, down to earth person and always loyal friend.

David was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Dove Cremations & Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66610. Inurnment will follow the celebration at Mount Hope Cemetery of Topeka.
