David Edward Herzog

David Edward Herzog, 77, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 at a Topeka hospital. He was born August 18, 1948 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the son of Edward W. and Roberta J. (Tongue) Herzog.

David graduated from Immaculata High School in 1966 and attended a business school in Kansas City. He was employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas for 34 years before retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Blue Lodge, Scottish Right, and Arab Temple.

When his children where in school, David was a soccer referee to various Kansas high schools and the Soccer Association of Topeka. He also played soccer recreationally. He had a great voice and enjoyed karaoke.

David married Stephanie S. Kline on June 12, 1973 in Kansas City, MO. She survives. Other survivors include children, Matthew R. (Jessica) Herzog of Manhattan, Kansas, and Jennifer (John) Hettinger of Littleton, Colorado; six grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Gabrielle, Kaiden, Logan and Sawyer; three great-grandchildren, Brianna, Mackenzie and Richard; siblings, Michael (Judy) Herzog of Leavenworth, Kansas and Carole Schumacher of Lakeland, Florida; and nieces and nephews, Michael & Allison Herzog, and Jeff Schumacher.

David was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Brian Herzog.

Private inurnment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association or First Assembly of God Mission Campus.
