Dolores Elizabeth Austin 88, passed peacefully July 2, 2025 at Midland Care Hospice House.
She was born September 1, 1936 in Lawrence, Kansas.
The daughter of Harold Turner, and Mary Lewis. Dolores attended Lawrence public schools. She married Arthur Eugene Austin at age 22 May 30, 1959 in Lawrence, Kansas. He preceded her in death, July 1, 2023.
Arthur being in the military, they traveled to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Where she worked as a seamstress making uniforms and parachutes. After returning to Kansas in 1978 she worked for KNI following to Topeka public schools as a para professional, specializing in working with children with special needs. She retired after 30 years of service. She went onto caring for babies and children in her home. Every child was treated as her own grandbaby and grandchildren. This is what she enjoyed the most, loving and caring for all the many children she had.
She was a genealogist in her spare time. She documented ancestral information she received and passed it on to other family members, while continuing to interview and record their stories, dates of births and deaths.
She is survived by three siblings, Louise, Robert, and William. She has two daughters and a son. Carmen, Carlos, and Estrellita Austin. She has many grandbabies, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Victor Austin, Barry Austin, Harold Edward Austin, parents Harold and Mary Turner and grandson Victor Austin Jr..
