Donald Lyle "Don" Torrey

Donald Lyle “Don” Torrey Jr., 79, of Topeka, passed away peacefully during the night Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

He was born August 14, 1946, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the son of Donald and Susie (Love) Torrey. He graduated from Guymon High School and attended Panhandle State College.

Don was employed with one company for 37 years that underwent several name changes; Cities Service Gas Company, Northwest Central Pipeline, Williams Natural Gas, Williams Natural Gas Pipelines Central and Southern Star Central Pipeline.

Don married ZoAnn Davis on July 7, 1970 in Satanta, KS.

He is survived by his wife, ZoAnn Torrey; brothers, David (Peggy Kay) Torrey of Owasso, OK, and James Torrey of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-law, Vickie Davis Deaton of Topeka, KS; great niece, Marley Davis and great nephew, Evander Davis who called him Grampa; nieces and nephews, Stacey and Kevin Davis, Jason and Brent Torrey, Ashley Torrey Wolfe and Jordan Torrey-Turner; a beloved cousin Shelly Rhiness O’Gara; and great nieces and nephews, Lennon Love Torrey-Turner; Makayla, Andy, Sierra, Preston and Juliet Wolfe; Melania and Dylan Torrey; and Charlie and Thea Torrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law, (James Torrey’s wife) Karen Torrey.

Don was a loving, kind man who made everyone feel included with his teasing comments and infectious laughter. He was enamored with fast cars and had many stories to tell. Fishing was a favorite hobby for many years, and he spent hours with his dad and brothers. Don had special relationships with his nephews and nieces, each knowing he loved them.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
