Donna Dianne Craft

January 10, 1950 — July 7, 2024

Donna D. Craft, 74, of Silver Lake, Kansas, passed away on July 7, 2024.

Born on January 10, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri. Donna was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.

Donna was a dedicated mother and a devout member of Faith Lutheran Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through many challenges and joys. She cherished her relationship with Jesus, and her family and friends will remember her for her unwavering faith and her ability to find humor and joy in every situation.

She was married to Stephen Whitney on April 4, 1974. They later divorced. From this union three daughters were born.

Before dedicating her life to raising her three daughters, Donna was a sharp businesswoman. She later returned to college and embarked on a fulfilling career as a kindergarten teacher in San Antonio, a role she held until her retirement. Her passion for nurturing young minds was evident in her gentle yet effective teaching style.

Donna’s hobbies included watching her grandchildren grow, bird watching, and searching for unique seashells on the beaches of Mustang Island-a place that held a special place in her heart. She also loved music, particularly blasting The Rolling Stones loud enough to “feel the music,” a testament to her spirited and youthful heart.

Donna, also known as Grammy, is survived by her daughter and caretaker, Michelle Bettencourt, of Silver Lake; brother, Paul Craft (Gina) of Warrenton, Missouri; daughters, Dianne (Adam) Whitney, of Hutchison, Kansas, and Kate (Michael) Whitney, of Eaton, Colorado; grandchildren, Leila, Bryce and WhitneyBelle Bettencourt, Hannah and Emme Whitney; great-granddaughter, June Bettencourt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Marty Craft and David Craft, and sisters, Susie and Jackie.

Donna’s remains will be lovingly sprinkled on the beach of Mustang Island, a site of many happy memories for her.

A celebration of her life will be held once her family returns from this private scattering of her ashes.
Her vibrant spirit and loving memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
