Earl D. "Duane" McCarter, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023. He was born June 16, 1938 in Topeka, the son of Marion and Violet (Rupple) McCarter.
Duane graduated from Topeka High School in 1956. He attended the University of Kansas and Washburn University. Upon graduation, he was employed by Finney & Turnipseed Consulting Engineers for over 40 years before retiring. He was an artist and enjoyed photography.
Survivors include his sister, Joanne Smelser of Topeka, nieces, Shannon (Dann) Fisher of Manhattan, Melinda (John) Huball of Topeka, and his nephew, Jason Smelser of Lawrence.
Duane was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lee McCarter.
Cremation has taken place and no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka at a later date.
Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
