Edward L. "Ed" DeLong, 79, of Berryton, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
He was born February 17, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Frank J. and Doris L. (Howbert) DeLong. He was a 1961 graduate of Topeka High School and University of Kansas with a degree in Pharmacy.
Ed's pharmacy career stared with Jaquith Pharmacy in Topeka and later co-owned and operated with his sister, Linda Lee Montgomery the Highland Park Pharmacy, Overbrook and Carbondale Pharmacy, retiring in December of 2017 and selling the Highland Park Pharmacy to Doug's Pharmacy in Rossville, Kansas.
He was a member of the FMCA, Covered Wagons RV Club in Topeka and member of the KU Alumni Association.
Ed married Carol L. Hards on September 21, 1983 in Topeka. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include four children, Nicholas "Nick" (Raelynn) DeLong of Auburn, KS, Jeremy C. (Leilah) DeLong of Berryton, Chris DeLong of Topeka and Brad DeLong of Tecumseh, KS; several grandchildren including Jordan (Parker) Reynoso, Madison DeLong, Maura DeLong and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda Lee (Gary) Montgomery of Eureka, MT and Doris (Bruce) Senne of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter-in-law, Tamra Lynn Dennis.
Ed enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, traveling in their RV, cooking, grilling, antique collecting, and was an avid bird hunter as well as big game.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2022, at the Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka.

A celebration of his life will follow that evening at 5:30 p.m., Friday at the Gage Park Westlake Shelter House in Topeka.
