Emily L. Mitchell

Emily L. Mitchell, 40, of Tecumseh, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026. She was born August 6, 1985 in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas C. and Linda S. (Lamb) Rishel.

Emily graduated from Garden City High School and earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science with a Minor in Leadership Studies from Kansas State University. She was employed as a Graphic Designer for Knox Signs & Graphics LLC, was the Marketing Manager at Balanced Property Management, and previously served as the Director of Communications and Special Events for the Kansas Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Highland Heights Christian Church.

Emily married Nicholas R. "Nic" Mitchell on September 22, 2012 in Berryton, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include their son, Oliver Thomas Mitchell of the home, her parents, Thomas and Linda Rishel of Ottawa, Kansas, her sister, Katie (Cole) Dunn of Liberty, Missouri and her nephew, Cade, and nieces, Gracie and Annaleigh.

Emily will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Cremation will follow the visitation and private inurnment will take place at a later date. A Celebration of Emily's Life will follow the visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Highland Heights Christian Church.
