Ervalene Sue Veatch

Ervalene Sue Veatch, 74, of Berryton, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

She was born September 27, 1951, in Council Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Erwin and Velda Jean (McCulle) Tiede. She graduated high school from Strong City in 1969. She attended Clark School of Business in Topeka, and took a few classes at Washburn University.

Sue was employed Hallmark Cards for 40 years, retiring in 2010.

Sue married John C. Veatch on July 2, 1970, in Topeka, Kansas. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include daughters Wendy Veatch; Sherri (Pat) Barkley; Kelly (Michael) Flanigan; grandchildren Gage and Tyson Barkley; Keira and Lauren Flanigan, all from Texas; brother Terry (Deann) Tiede; and several nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sue enjoyed quilting. Two of her quilts placed at the Kansas State Fair. She loved watching KU Basketball, the Kansas City Royals as well as the Kansas City Chiefs. She was always traveling to watch her grandchildren's different activities, including basketball, baseball, softball and dance. She was an avid Chihuahua lover, and traveled with them to Texas.

Sue will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka. The family will receive friends the evening prior, Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Interment will follow the funeral service at Lynn Creek Cemetery, 2400 SE 61st, Berryton.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to The National Children's Cancer Society.
