Ethel Jackson, 101, Topeka, formerly of Palco, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012.
Born May 23, 1911 in Graham County, Kansas near Palco, she was the youngest of three girls born to William G. and Ethel (English) Kugler.
Ethel was a school teacher all her professional life, getting a teaching certificate as soon as possible after graduation from High School and later graduating with a BS in Education from Fort Hays State University. She began her career in Graham County, and then moved to the San Luis Valley of Colorado to reunite with her father. She married there and lived and taught in the Moffat School until 1949 when she moved with the family back to Kansas. She taught in the Palco Schools until her retirement in 1976. She moved to Topeka in 1994 where she was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and the local Newcomers Club.
Ethel married Eugene E. Jackson on August 15, 1935. He died April 23, 1983. Survivors include son, Norman Jackson and wife, Claudia; grandsons, Gregory (Judy) Jackson, Parker, CO, Christopher (Amy) Jackson, Kearny, NE, Paul Jackson, Wichita, KS; and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Palco.
