Freda Mae Watts, 87, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024.
She was born May 4, 1937, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Laura (Arnold) Webb. She graduated from Topeka High School.
Freda was employed by the State of Kansas in the Drafting Department for many years, until retiring.
Freda married William “Bill” E. Watts on August 30, 1980 in Topeka, KS. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2023.
Survivors include step-son, Timothy (Roxanne) Watts; daughters-in-law, Joye Richardson, Augusta Richardson; grandchildren, Michael R. (Vanessa) Richardson, Tonja Williams, Kandace Richardson, Amy Richardson, and Jenniffer Richardson; step-grandchildren, Saranya, Jaina, Thomas, William and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, and children, Daniel Richardson, Edmond Richardson and Michael Richardson.
Freda was an active member of the Topeka chapter of the Cat Fanciers’ Association where she was dedicated in raising Persian cats. Her claim to fame, was Excalibur who achieved the Top Tabby Persian International Award in Show. She was very active in her church and also enjoyed gardening . . . and of course shopping.
A Funeral Ceremony will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2024 at the Covenant Baptist Church, 5440 SW 37th St, Topeka, KS 66614. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Topeka. The family will receive friends the hour prior.
