Gary D. Dunmire Jr.

Gary D. Dunmire Jr., 45 of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was born June 29, 1979 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Gary Dean and Susan Marie (Hensler) Dunmire Sr.

Gary attended Emporia High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. He was employed as a Crisis Counselor by the Colmery-O'Neal VA Medical Center. Gary was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed his dog, Hades. He loved to barbeque and cooked for his family and friends. He also loved spending with his granddaughters.

Survivors include two sons, Aaron Dunmire of Topeka, Aadeyn Dunmire of Kansas, three granddaughters, Mia, Xiamara and Phoebe, his mother, Susan Marie Dunmire of Topeka, his two sisters, Sara Williams and Nicole Timley, both of Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gary Dean Dunmire Sr., his paternal grandparents, Gary and Beverly Dunmire and his maternal grandmother, Virginia Hensler.

A Celebration of Gary's Life will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Bruffs American Restaurant, 2640 W. 18th Ave., Emporia, Kansas 66801. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. The family encourages those attending to wear Chiefs or other sporting attire.
