Glenda Brewer beloved wife, mother and grandma, was born on October 3, 1941, in Greenwood County Kansas. She passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family.
For Glenda, family was the cornerstone of her life. She was married to her devoted husband, Melvin Brewer, for 64.9 years, building a life rich with love and shared memories. Together, they nurtured a family that includes their son, Mark Brewer, and daughter, Anna (Roger) Housholder, as well as four cherished grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She took immense pride in her children and descendants, celebrating their accomplishments and loving them unconditionally.
Throughout her life, Glenda exemplified kindness, patience, and a hard work ethic. She devoted herself fully to her family, caring for her children with great love and enthusiasm. Even as they grew, she continued to support them in various endeavors, always willing to start new ventures and embracing life’s challenges with determination. Her career included running a market and she was known as a hard worker who supported her family's needs and aspirations.
Glenda held a special passion for music from a young age. Her love for performance flourished in various forms, from playing the clarinet and being a cheerleader to participating actively in her church community and singing in the church choir. Music was a significant part of her life, and she enjoyed sharing this joy with her family.
In addition to her musical pursuits, Glenda had a variety of hobbies and interests. She delighted in playing video games with her grandchildren and indulged in the cherished tradition of making peanut butter pie and Christmas candies. Every birthday celebration was highlighted by her special pan-fried tacos, a labor of love that her family eagerly anticipated. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate family, as she often found joy in helping others and cooking for those around her.
Glenda was also an avid golfer, traveling across the country to enjoy her favorite sport. She loved spending time outdoors, particularly with her beloved dogs, Livie and Otis, who brought her much joy and companionship. Her fond memories of playing marble murder with cousins and friends will forever resonate with those lucky enough to have experienced those joyous gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Gladys Johnson, and her brother, Frances Johnson.
Glenda Brewer's legacy is one of unwavering love, compassion, and resilience, and she will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to know her. Her spirit will continue to inspire her family as they carry forward the values she instilled in them, ensuring that her memory lives on in their hearts forever.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 14, 2025, at Eastside Baptist Church, 4425 SE 29th St, Topeka, KS 66605, where a memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Dove Cremations & Funerals, Southeast Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
