Glenda Lee Tegethoff, a beloved matriarch, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 87. Born on December 28, 1937, in Washington, Kansas, Glenda lived a life defined by love, dedication, and hard work.

Glenda's professional journey began after her graduation from Washington High School in 1955. She worked for eight years at Southwest State Bank, which was soon followed by a remarkable 25-year tenure at Capital City Bank where she retired as Senior Vice President. Her passion for numbers and bookkeeping was evident, and she cherished the relationships she built with her coworkers. Following her retirement, she found joy in working as an office para-professional at Highland Park Central Elementary, where her love for children flourished.

Family was the cornerstone of Glenda's life, and she was known for her ability to bring everyone together for memorable dinners. Her culinary talents shone brightly—she was recognized as the Topeka Capital Journal's Cook of the Week and earned praise for her incredible stuffing and baked goods. Glenda delighted in baking for her neighbors and friends, showcasing her care and generosity through her delicious creations.

Her personality was a blend of independence, intelligence, and unwavering determination. She was often described as stubborn, yet her patience and love for her children and grandchildren made her a role model for those lucky enough to know her. Glenda's home was always immaculate, a reflection of her organized nature, and she had a profound love for her dogs, caring for them one at a time.

Glenda was immensely proud of her family, particularly her children and grandchildren. She left behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire them. Her surviving family includes her daughters, Carla Tegethoff and Lesli Ashburn; her beloved son, David Holmes; granddaughters Denise Carlson and Korie Ann Ashburn; grandson Jacob Ashburn; great-grandson Lathan Woodson; and great-great-grandson David Dewayne Holmes. She is also survived by her siblings, Phyllis Sweetland, Robert Funke, Gary (Mary Kay) Funke, and Debra Wohlers.
