Jack Darrow, born on December 23, 1939, in Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. He leaves behind cherished memories, and a loving family.

A dedicated and passionate individual, Jack had a profound love for the publication industry, where he enjoyed reading publications before they were released. His commitment to continuous learning kept him well-versed, evolving from traditional typesetting to adapting to digital production processes. His career was marked by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and a deep appreciation for the written word.

Jack's educational journey began in Joplin, MO, and he went on to graduate from Topeka High in 1958, where he first honed his skills in typesetting. His commitment to lifelong learning extended beyond his professional life; he had a diverse range of hobbies that included Western books, photography, technology, and genealogy. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Topeka.

As a veteran, Jack served in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Lenawee as a boiler operator helper.

Family was at the heart of Jack’s life. He was known for creating special memories, such as secret pancake nights on Fridays and gathering loved ones for holiday celebrations. His birthday fell just days before Christmas and he appreciated that his family always celebrated his birthday separate from the holiday.

Jack took immense pride in his family’s achievements. He was particularly proud of all his children's accomplishments and that two of his sons chose to serve in the Armed Forces.

Jack is survived by his daughters, DeAnna (Mario) Guzman, Debra (Kurt) McCann, and Peggy Holliday; his son, Jeff (Pam) Darrow; and his sons Larry (Pat) Darrow. Jack also joyfully leaves behind 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love for family. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage, and his son, Lewis Darrow.

Cremation was chosen by Jack and a family service will be held at a later date.

Jack Darrow will always be remembered for his humor, wisdom, and the love he cultivated in his family.

Memorial contributions and thanks should be given to PACE and North Kelly House in care of Midland Hospice
