He has many nieces and nephews who all loved him very much.
He joined the Army after his divorce and was stationed in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Although his feet left Alaska his heart never did. He served active duty in support of Operation Desert Storm.
He lived a simple life and stated numerous times "I should have been born before my time". Jack would have been happy living off the land. Jack was quick to say yes to an invitation to any event. He lived life and took advantage of every opportunity to experience it. His last year on earth was filled with so much joy: visits from childhood past; Vincent Armstrong (Hartman); attended a wedding at a castle; a trip to Branson; weekend trips to Overbrook; fishing trips; car rides; walked to the store; walked "his " dogs (Yota and Riley); watched the news; wrestling; Naked and Afraid with family and friends. He was planning a cruise to Alaska in 2023. He was planning a jump out of an airplane or helicopter. So many more things to do and so little time.
Jack's love was for his family and friends. He put everyone before himself. He gave into his cancer and dementia but never lost his love for life. He fought hard until he was too tired. Jack never wanted to be put in a nursing home and his wishes were honored. Jack was called to his new home in heaven after saying goodbye to his family and friends who surrounded him at his bedside. Once he was reassured his military medals would be given to his three children he left peacefully. Rest in Heaven Jack.
On Aug 26 2022, he was given military honors at West Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, I-70 and Auburn Road and had a service by minister, Dale Greer followed by a luncheon at Town and Country Christian Church at 29th and Fairlawn.
He will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.
