Jack Alton Schmidt, 70, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025.
He was born October 2, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Elton H. and Elizabeth (Potter) Schmidt.
Jack was employed by Hopkins Manufacturing and the Flint Hills Technical College in Emporia and later owned and operated the J & J Hood Cleaning until retiring.
Jack married Diana Marie Bolling on March 9, 1985 in Emporia, Kansas. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include three children, George Bolling, Elizabeth Schmidt and Jake Schmidt; two grandchildren, Casey Schrick and Jake Schmidt II all of Topeka; three sisters, Judy Schmidt Toms and her husband, Bill of Des Moines, IA, Janet Coleman and her husband, Roger of Emporia, KS and Tammy Bruegger and her husband, Dr. Dan Bruegger of Overland Park, KS; three brothers, Jim Schmidt and his wife Kathy of Hendersonville, TN, John Schmidt and his wife, Patsy of Lawrence, KS and Sonny Schmidt and his wife of Topeka; his brother-in-law, Darrell Schmidt of Lawrence, KS; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jane Schmidt and his step-father, Ted Turner.
Jack loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Casey. He enjoyed working and restoring cars and was an avid KU Basketball and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Dove Cremations & Funerals, Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
