James Clifford Gonzales

James Clifford Gonzales, 57, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

He was born August 27, 1968, in Elmhurst, Illinois, the son of Peter and Kathleen (Clifford) Gonzales. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1986. He received his Bachelor's Degrees in History and Finance, both from Washburn University. He had a good mind for chess and he was a high school state level player.

James lived and worked in New York City for several years, working for May Davis Group in the World Trade Center.

James is survived by his father; sister, Susan (Paul) Clarkson; and nieces, Caitlin Clarkson and Jennifer (Kurt) Lindeman. He was preceded in death by his mother; and brother, Peter Gonzales Jr.

James was a wiz with numbers. He enjoyed both indoor and outdoor gardening.

A memorial ceremony will be held at a later date. Please visit later for the details. A private interment of the cremated remains will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery.
