James E. "Jamie" Hester II, 52, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023.
He was born February 12, 1971, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of James Hester and Wilma LeeAnne (Mansfield) Skinner and the stepson of Stephen Skinner. He graduated from Topeka West High School and the Capper Foundation.
Jamie was a member of the Green Machine Boccia of Topeka. He was a member of TARC Inc. Self-Determination.
Survivors include his mother, Wilma "LeeAnne" Skinner of Topeka and his stepfather Stephen Skinner of Topeka; sisters Tina Ruecker (fiancé Terry) of Meriden and Michelle Worthington (Brent) of Topeka; two nieces and two nephews; and two great-nieces and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by James E. Hester in 2015.
Jamie enjoyed hockey, the Special Olympics, boccia, roller skating, roller derby, the Chiefs and the Royals, and most of all the Kansas Jayhawks. He loved live music from Two Classics and Topeka Acapella Unlimited chorus. He loved being around people and supporting his nieces and nephews in any activity.
Jamie was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28th at the Mount Hope Funeral Chapel at 4700 SW 17th Street in Topeka. The family will receive friends for an hour before the service. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery following the memorial service.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sk8Away, 815 SW Fairlawn Road in Topeka.
