Janice E. Justvig-Cornelius, affectionately known as Jan, embarked on her final journey on October 15, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on May 20, 1940, in Sac City, Iowa, Jan lived a life devoted to love, laughter, and the cherished bonds of family.
A proud graduate of Wichita West High School, class of 1958, Her personality radiated warmth and joy, characterized by a laughter so infectious that it could bring smiles to the faces of all around her. Jan was a pillar of love and caring, forever dedicated to her family.
Throughout her life, Jan found immense pride and fulfillment in gathering her family, particularly during the festive seasons of Christmas and Thanksgiving, where her joyous spirit shone brightest. The memories of her contagious laughter, echoing through those joyful gatherings, will forever be etched in the hearts of her loved ones. She took great delight in engaging in games with family and friends, whether it was Bingo, slots, or the card game Tripoli, each moment spent together woven into a tapestry of love and companionship.
Jan's nurturing spirit extended beyond her human family to include four beloved furry friends, with whom she shared her compassion and joy. Her passion for square dancing added a lively rhythm to her life, harmonizing with her joyful laughter and creating a symphony of cherished memories that will resonate through generations.
A devoted mother, Jan leaves behind her adoring daughters: Rhonda Stalcup, Robin (Scott) Paulseen, Rachelle (David) Maples, and Janita Cornelius. She reveled in the roles of grandmother and great-grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a significant source of pride and joy in her life.
While her journey through this life has come to a close, Jan is lovingly remembered by her family for the love and care she provided. She reunites with her parents, Carl and Hazel Hoover, her former spouses Ronald G. Justvig Sr. and Kenneth A. Cornelius, her son Ronald G. Justvig Jr., her sister Bernice Glass, her sister Deloris Eckerman, and her son-in-law Jay D. Stalcup, all of whom awaited her with open arms.
Jan’s legacy of laughter, love, and devoted family ties will forever illuminate the lives she touched, reminding us all to embrace the moments of joy, cherish our families, and find laughter even in the simplest of gatherings.
