Janice Sue Wilde (Norland), 79, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered her heavenly home on Thursday afternoon, August 20, 2026, after bravely battling cancer. She was born on March 9, 1947, in McPherson, Kansas, to Laura Lee Myers and Marion E. Regier. She grew up on her parents’ farm with three little brothers and graduated from Roxbury High School in 1965. She was married to Robert L. (“Robie”) Herdman until 1979. She later worked at North Supply Company in Gardner where she met Charles F. (“Charlie”) Wilde. Jan and Charlie were married for nearly 40 years, and during that time they worked together for Klein Tools. They lived on a farm south of Quenemo in Osage County for more than 30 years, where they enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. They later moved to Topeka to be closer to their children.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Laura Lee and Emery E. Norland and Marion E. Regier; her brother Theodore W. Regier; her brother Kenneth M. Norland; and her nephew Jonathan E. Norland. Jan is survived by her brothers Gilbert E. Norland (Anita) and Randy G. Norland (Gretchen); her sister Twila M. Fry; her husband Charlie; her daughter Teresa L. Watson and her son Kevin S. Herdman (Natasha); her grandchildren Brenna (Jordan), Katherine, Ryan (Emily), Joe, and Adam; her great-grandchildren Chloe, Henry, and Carter; her stepsons Timothy A. Wilde and Kent C. Wilde; and cherished nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Jan’s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene in Topeka.
