Jerry L. Jones, a loving husband, father, and papa passed away peacefully at Stormont Vail Hospital on November 20th, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born in Topeka, Kansas on February 1st, 1958, Jerry dedicated his life to his family and over 30 years to a career in security. Known for his witty humor and playful “dad jokes”, he was a quiet, yet loving presence in the lives of all who knew him.
Jerry was known for his love of technology and fascination with electronics along with being a family appointed private investigator and aspiring grill master. His love and commitment to family was a bond he cherished deeply and he was especially proud of his title as “Papa”, finding great joy in the laughter and love shared with his grandchildren; Devantae, Darriene, Eden, Haven, Corbin, Macy, Dillan, Alexis (Phillip), Trevor (Kamryn), McKenna, Junior, Kamiyah, and Kaidence. His love extended to his great- granddaughter, Ivy, who brought a new light and joy into his life.
Jerry graduated from Highland Park Highschool in 1976 and soon after began working in security, dedicating many years to Montgomery- Ward and over 25 years to St. Francis hospital.
Jerry’s life was a testament to the relationships he built, not just as a protector but as a man devoted to enriching the lives of those he loved.
Jerry enjoyed family time, especially Sunday dinners and holidays. His stubborn nature was softened by his deep love, representing the very core of who he was- a man who cared immensely and shared himself willingly with those fortunate enough to enter his circle.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 47 years, Cheryl, along with four daughters, Brandy (William) Green, Tiffany (Matt Dunkin) McCain, Aubrey (Ryan) Angle, and Courtney (Donovan) Ortega. He is survived by his siblings Carol (Kent) Hastings, Terry (Brenda) Jones, and Larry (Maricel) Jones and was preceded in death by his parents Roberta and Clifford Jones.
