John Scott Sutherland

John Scott Sutherland, 62, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022.

He was born October 5, 1959, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of John Walter and Karol J. (Johnson) Sutherland. He graduated from Warrensburg (MO) High School and received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a master's degree in social gerontology, both from the University of Central Missouri.

Scott was employed as a marketing manager by several nursing homes, retiring in 2018.

Scott married Laura Neth (Smith); they later divorced. He then married Linda Fox (Sutherland); they later divorced. Survivors include his children, Christine Sutherland of Weatherford, TX and John Ross Sutherland of Kansas City, MO; his stepchildren Chad Fockler (Rachel) and family and Aaron Fockler (Brandi) and family; his brother Jeffrey Allen Sutherland; and his parents.

Scott enjoyed golf. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs.

Scott was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. The family will receive friends for an hour before the service. There will be a reception at the Southwest Chapel following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
