Jolene Anne (Hatter) Oestreich, 75, of Topeka, KS, passed away after a valiant battle with Multiple Myeloma on Thursday, January 26, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Jolene was born to Ralph and Ruth (Luehring) Hatter in Manhattan, KS, on November 26, 1947. Jolene graduated from Linn Rural High School in 1966. She attended the University of Kansas and Weaver Airline Personnel School.
On June 8, 1968, Jolene married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, John Oestreich, in Greenleaf, KS. Jolene was devoted to John and took on the challenges of a coach's wife with grace. "Mrs. Coach O" watched countless hours of game film, washed and mended uniforms, and baked dozens of cookies for the team. Jolene was a natural mother; she taught her daughters the importance of quiet strength, kind words, and generosity to all, and she was the consummate grandmother, traveling to watch her grandchildren in any event she could attend. Jolene also enjoyed sewing, needlework, crocheting, and knitting. Jolene was employed as a secretary by Moberly School District and Topeka Public Schools for 30 years prior to retiring in 2009.
Jolene is survived by her husband, John; her daughters Jonette (Danny) Marshall of Springfield, MO, Jennifer (Eric) Sauer of Topeka, and Jill (Bo) Anderson of Littleton, CO; her grandchildren Emma and Seth Sauer, Drew, Katie, and Jessie Marshall, and Olivia and Brody Anderson; her brother Rodney (Josette) Hatter of Dana Pointe, CA; and her sister Robin (Mike) White of Olathe, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents.
