Joseph R. "Joe" Moore, 93, of Overbrook, Kansas, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 at an Overbrook care facility. He was born January 22, 1932 in Grinnell, Kansas, the son of J.E. and Gertrude (Schwartz) Moore.

Joe graduated from Grinnell Rural High School. He served in the Army and later transferred into the Kansas Army National Guard. He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier for 31 years before retiring. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grinnell for many years.

Joe married Janice Scott on May 29, 1956 in Grinnell. She preceded him in death on July 4, 1998.

Survivors include children, Collette Moore of Lawrence, Dede Moore of Colby, Kansas, Diana Day of Fort Smith, Arkansas, five grandchildren, Aaryss, Marcus, Monica, Margot and Zane, eight great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Jeanne Mann of Overland, Kansas, Pat Moore of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Helen Nieman of Golden, Colorado, Mike Moore of Hays, Kansas, and Iris Peterson of Rose Hill, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private Celebration of Joe's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Grinnell, Kansas 67738 or to any Animal Shelter.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
