Judith L. "Judy" Simpson, 80, of Osage City, passed away Friday, October 30, 2026.

She was born Friday, September 13, 1946, in Culver, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence Otto and Stella May (Sheely) Dewey. Judy attended Minneapolis High School in Kansas, and then received an Associates Degree from Allen County Community College.

Judy was a woman of many talents. She was a seamstress while her children were young. Her passion was cooking. She was also a cook for the Golden Wheel Senior Center and the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Minneapolis. Once she moved to Osage City, she was a pharmacy technician. She finally retired at 62 from the State of Kansas Board of Tax Appeals.

Judy was a proud member or the Left Handers Club.

Judy married Duane Simpson on October 18, 1962 in Miltonvale, Kansas. He passed on August 28, 2025.

Survivors include her sons, Dewey D. Simpson of Salina, KS; Darrell W. Simpson of Bethany, MO; daughter-in-law, Janelle Simpson of Overbrook, KS; grandchildren, Lex Staples, Meghan Simpson (& spouse), Caleb Simpson and Rachel Simpson; 8 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Donna Dewey, Minneapolis, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Stella Dewey, her husband Duane Simpson, sisters Sharon Simmons and Sheryl Marit, and brothers "Bud" Dewey and Roy Dewey.

If you knew Judy, you experienced her quick wit. Judy was a lifelong learner, whatever she did she would research extensively. She loved to collect a wide variety of items. Judy also loved sending cards and receiving cards, treasuring every one she ever received. She loved animals, especially cats, dogs and pigs; having raised pigs for many years. Judy was very close with her siblings. She also enjoyed cooking, cleaning, canning and sewing in her free time.

Judy's wishes were for cremation and no services. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS 66604.
