Karen Lyn Humpert, 63, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026.
She was born May 11, 1962, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Lynne Clark and Sandra Verlene (Smithheart) Nash. She was a 1980 graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School, Perry, Kansas.
Karen owned and operated Karen’s Day Care for many years until retiring. She also worked for Topeka Performing Arts Center.
Karen married John Claude Cole. They later divorced. She later married the love of her life, Lynn Humpert in Las Vegas, NV. He survives in Topeka. Survivors include two children, Joshua Claude Cole, Sr. of Topeka and Jake (Angela) Humpert of Hoyt, KS; her mother, Sandra Nash of Topeka; eight grandchildren, Joshua Cole, Jr. of Topeka, Kaitlin Humpert (Garrett) of Salina, KS, Corey Humpert of Hoyt, KS, Chris Powell of Hoyt, KS, Sabrina Humpert (Aaron) of Orlando, FL, Andrew Henderson (Sheridan) of Hoyt, KS, Matthew Miller of Kansas City, KS and Justin (Jerilyn) Miller of Topeka; a great-granddaughter, Avina; two brothers, Randy (Nancy) Nash of Vinton, IA and Craig (Anne) Nash of Greenville, SC; her daughter-in-law, Leslie Humpert of Topeka; seven nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lynne Clark Nash in 1979 and her son, Brian Humpert in 2019.
Karen loved spending time with her family and children in general. She enjoyed traveling, going to the Casino, Stampin Up, and was an avid fan of Disney World and everything Disney. She was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs and KU Sports fan.
Honoring her request, cremation is planned. A celebration of life ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Blaine, Kansas.
