Karen K. Steele, 84, of Berryton, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023. She was born August 29, 1938 in Holton, Kansas, the daughter of Henry George and Eunice Marie (McAlexander) Vaught.
Karen graduated from Highland Park High School. She was employed in management by Southwestern Bell Telephone which became AT&T for 38 years before retiring.
Karen married Robert E. Steele on October 21, 1956 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include her aunt, Alice "Corky" Eigenman of Mayetta.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Larry D. Vaught.
The family would like to thank McCrite Plaza for the outstanding care that they provided for Karen.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2023 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W 75th St., Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
