Kathleen Henrietta Gonzales

Kathleen Henrietta Gonzales, 89, of Topeka, passed away after a long illness, Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

She was born June 25, 1936, in Mobridge, South Dakota, the daughter of James and Henrietta (Joens) Clifford. She received her Master’s Degree in Business from Washburn University.

Kathleen was employed by Yellow Freight for many years, until retiring.

Kathleen married Peter Gonzales on November 27, 1954 in Chicago. He survives. Other survivors include son, James Gonzales; daughter, Susan (Paul) Clarkson; and grandchildren, Caitlin Clarkson, Jennifer (Kurt) Lindeman.

She was preceded in death by her son, Peter Jr.

Kathleen loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially during Christmas. She was an avid reader and could usually be found reading a good mystery at home with her cat in her lap and a cup of coffee next to her.

Her family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
