LaVeta Louise Mages

LaVeta Stowell Mages, 81, of Topeka, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Friday, June 12, 2026 after a long journey of Alzheimer’s, and entered the presence of her Lord.

She was born November 13, 1944, in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Virgina Ellen Johnson and Floyd Eldon Stowell. She graduated Seneca High School, worked as hairdresser from 1963-1975, owned a plant store from 1976-78 & served in a law office as receptionist.

LaVeta married Paul Mages in 1964 . They later divorced. Survivors include daughters, Angela (Brent) Boles of Topeka, KS, Theresa Lemus of Reno, NV, and Paula Mages of Topeka. She had 6 grandchildren; Cassidy (Boles) Roberson, Madeline (Boles) Key of Topeka, KS. Nicole (Luttjohann) Sprague, Jarah Lemus, Mateo Lemus of Reno, NV and Alex Mages of Topeka. She had 4 great-grandchildren.

Family and close friends are invited to join as we gather to remember the life of our beloved mother on Tuesday, July 7th 2:30-4:30 in Topeka. Location TBA. This will be a small gathering for family and those who knew and loved her. We look forward to a time of remembrance, re-uniting and sharing stories together.
