L.B. Wade Anderson, Jr., of Topeka, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Midland Hospice. Dr. Anderson was 79. He was born on July 8, 1942 in Smithville, Missouri. He graduated from Junction City High School, The Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia, and Michigan State University earning a Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1973.
Dr. Anderson worked in education for USD 475 as a mathematics teacher, a business manager and director of technology, creating the technology position and setting the vision for the district's technological advancement. Wade Jr. enjoyed coaching baseball in his hometown of Junction City, KS and leading the effort to improve the playing field at Rathert Stadium.
In addition to working in the schools, he worked for and retired from Kansas National Education Association (KNEA) in Topeka. He dedicated his time to being an advocate for teachers in Kansas in his role as a negotiator, technology director, and business manager.
When he wasn't working Wade enjoyed playing games with his grandkids and making competitive fun through card games, darts and farkle. He also spent time with his partner Martha Riddle of Topeka, creating special memories.
Wade Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. Anderson Sr. and Carrie Evelyn Fisher and his wife Patricia (Pat) Anderson. He married Pat in 1962 and they raised three kids in Junction City Kansas. She passed in March 2020.
He is survived by his six siblings, Mary Devin (Junction City KS), Ron Anderson (Las Vegas NV), Pam Wilson (Junction City KS), Barbie Tillman (Freeport FL), Chris Anderson (Dallas TX), and Curt Anderson (Lawrence KS). His three surviving children are: L.B. Wade III of Austin TX, Stanley (Dawn) of Lenexa KS, Lynn (Brian) of Shawnee KS and seven grandchildren Josh, Sydney, Jackson, Ruben, Luke, Maya, and Marissa.
A Celebration of Wade's Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
