Leah E. Cappaletti, 75, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023.
She was born October 11, 1947, in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Forest Raymond and Thelma Beatrice (Forkell) Shannon.
Leah graduated from South High in Columbus, Ohio in 1965. She furthered her education receiving a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from Washburn University in 2011.
Leah was employed by Houser Trucking LLC. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Kappa Theta, ASPCA, World Wildlife Foundation, African Wildlife Foundation, Best Friend Animal Society, Humane Society of the U.S. and the Washburn Alumni Association.
Leah married Tony Cappaletti on July 5, 1976. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2016.
Survivors include her daughter, Leanne (David) Houser of Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Victoria (Tyler Tillman) Houser and Christopher Houser both of Topeka, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony; brother, David Shannon and daughter, Thelma Marie Pisani.
Leah was an avid collector of elephants. She enjoyed working in the garden and spending time with her family and friends.
Honoring Leah's request cremation is planned. A Celebration of Leah's Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, Kansas 66610. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time.
