Lenora Annette Scroggins, lovingly known as Annette, passed away on June 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born on July 28, 1950, in Checotah, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Mildred, Annette lived a life defined by compassion, laughter, and an unwavering love for others.

A longtime resident of Topeka, Kansas, Annette dedicated 36 years of service to the VA Hospital, retiring in 2016. Throughout her career, she touched countless lives through her kindness, generosity, and genuine care for those she encountered. She never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and loved.

Annette was known as the extended mom and auntie to many. Her home was often filled with family, friends, laughter, music, and unforgettable gatherings. She had a contagious laugh, a beautiful heart, and a spirit that naturally brought people together. Whether hosting a celebration, sharing a meal, or simply offering a listening ear, Annette made everyone around her feel like family.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughters, Shauna and Raven Williams; her stepchildren, Annastasia and Alexander Williams; her cherished granddaughter, Aveah Ackward-Williams; her lifelong best friend, Jill Quarles; her brothers, Sonny, Roger, Logan, Wayne, and Steve; her sisters, Elli, Sophia, Cassie, Michelle, and Eilene; her close cousins, Phyllis and Grace, whom she lovingly considered sisters; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by her presence.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mildred; her stepmother, Opal Ransberry; her sisters, Sally Moore, Lena Monroe, and Kesha Ransberry; her brother, Kevin Scroggins; and her close cousin, Donna Shocks, whom she lovingly considered a sister.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories she created and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the many lives she touched along the way.

Annette's life was a beautiful reminder that the greatest gift we can give one another is love. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always celebrated.
