Linda Gayle Geffert

Linda Gayle Geffert, 83, of Rossville, formerly of Topeka, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026.

She was born July 6, 1943, in Haven, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Helen (Koch) Geffert. She was a 1961 graduate of Haven Rural High School and attended St. John’s Lutheran College in Winfield, Kansas and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia Kansas.

Linda co-owned and operated the Country Junction in Toronto, Kansas, which was home to the Lizard Lips Grill. From there she moved on to the Electric Cat Cafe in Paxico which she co-operated with Ron Etter.

Survivors include 3 neices; Corlis Anderson of Toronto, Nathalie McKenzie of Wichita and Juli Smith of East Lansing, MI. 3 nephews Greg Thomas of Spokane, WA, Randy Thomas of Jackson Michigan and Mark Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her 2 brothers Bill Geffert sister in law Nelda Geffert of Haven, KS and Glenn Geffert of Toronto, KS and her sister Dorothy Thomas and brother in law Ray Thomas of Jackson Michigan. Nephew Ray Geffert of Haven, KS.

Linda enjoyed writing and illustrating her stories. She found history of any sort fascinating, especially local Kansas history. She loved the Flint Hills. She loved fishing and being outdoors. She was a rock hound and loved animals, especially black cats.

Honoring her request, cremation is planned. No services are scheduled. Dove Cremations & Funerals, Southeast Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
