Linda Shirlene Jackson, 73, of Topeka, Kansas was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2023.
She was born February 12, 1949, in Coffeyville, Kansas, the daughter of Willie and Evelyn Wilson. She attended Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville and after high school went on to obtain her Medical Assistant Certification.
Linda provided care for many patients during her long career as a Medical Assistant. After retiring, she became a foster parent and provided care, guidance, and a safe haven to numerous children.
She was a long time member of The House of the Lord Church in Topeka. Linda was a woman of faith and loved spreading the word of God. She brought people to the Lord by encouragement and by regularly providing rides to church for worship.
Linda will be remembered as having a big heart by those that knew her. She loved her family and others alike and made no delineation between the two. Many have described her as the "gold standard" for how she conducted her life, cared for others, and found compassion to help all those she could.
Linda enjoyed cooking and she was phenomenal at it. She loved watching Lifetime movies, the Golden Girls, and Young and the Restless. She loved shopping and going on family vacations. Her favorite main course was fried chicken by a long shot and favorite snack was undeniably popcorn.
She is survived by her children, Lucinda (Lionel, Sr.) Jarrett, Alfred (Candace) Jackson, Jr. and Latisha Jackson; grandchildren, Lanae Jarrett, Lanyia Jarrett, Lionel (TaNysha) Jarrett, Jr., Nia Jackson, Nadia Jackson and LeVonte Jarrett and four great grandchildren; siblings, Inez (Anthony, Sr.) Woods, Pamela Lewis and Wann (Whitney) Wilson; nephew, Tyson Fritz, in-laws and a whole host of other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Jackson, Sr.; her parents and sister, Janie Roberts.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at The House of the Lord Church, 2531 SE Wittenberg Rd, Topeka, KS 66605. Linda will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel in Topeka, Kansas.
