Lisa Renay Denton, 60, of Allen, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026.
She was born February 13, 1966, in Silsbee, Texas, the daughter of Charles Edward and Joann (Wheeler) Groze.
Lisa married Dennis A. Denton on July 4, 2007, in Vinita, Oklahoma. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her children Ashley (Dean) Harris, Beaver, Oklahoma; Kelsea Denton, Allen, Kansas; Brandon (Amanda) Clements, Amarillo, Texas; brothers Jimmy Leger, Topeka, Kansas; John (Sonia) Loyd, Channelview, Texas; and mother Joann Leger, Topeka, Kansas.
Lisa's life was marked by a deep commitment to serving others. From 2000 to 2002, she served with AmeriCorps in Dalhart, Texas, where she taught literacy to children in kindergarten through third grade, helping young students build skills they would carry with them for years to come.
Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, she volunteered alongside the fire department to help raise funds for the surviving families of firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. Her willingness to step forward during a time of tremendous loss reflected the compassion and sense of service that remained a constant throughout her life.
In December 2002, she began a career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where she served as a Correctional Officer IV until January 2007. She later made her home in Allen, Kansas, where she spent the remainder of her life farming.
Of all the roles she held throughout her life, however, none meant more to her than being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren were her whole heart. She treasured the time she spent with them, and they were without question among the greatest joys of her life.
Cremation is planned. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 6, 2026, at Encounter Church Votaw in Votaw, Texas, 3160 FM2798, Votaw, Texas, 77376.
