Lori Parks

Lori Parks passed away peacefully at her home in Topeka, Kansas, on September 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side. She was born on May 4, 1966, in Omaha, Nebraska, and will be remembered as a woman of warmth, humor, determination, and deep love for the people closest to her.

Raised in Omaha, Lori graduated from Burke High School and went on to attend the University of Nebraska in Omaha. She built a working life marked by dedication and resilience. For many years, she worked in the casino industry before making a change to civil service with the federal government. She then spent 15 years working for the Department of Veteran's Affairs, a chapter of her life that reflected her steady commitment and strong work ethic.

Lori brought joy and energy to everyday life. She had a fantastic sense of humor and was known for being both stubborn and kind, a big sweetheart with a memorable spirit. She loved animals and plants, and she delighted in the things that made life fun and lively: playing casino games and cards, playing Yahtzee, keeping up with her Words with Friends, and, as those who knew her would surely smile to recall, winning. Some of her happiest moments were spent cheering from the stands at her grandson Jackson’s baseball games. Of all the things she held dear, she was especially proud of her grandson, Jackson, whose life brought her immense happiness.

Above all, Lori’s life was centered on family. She is survived by her son, Nick Gagliola, and her daughter, Ashley Gagliola. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jackson Blindt and Sienna Gagliola, who carried a special place in her heart. She is survived as well by her sister, Ronda Klein; her niece Shana Hagedorn and Shana’s husband, Chad; her great-nephews, Preston Hagedorn and Camden Hagedorn; and her nephew, Curtis Klein. In each of these relationships, Lori’s affection, humor, and loyal presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

She was preceded in death by her father, Terry Parks; her mother, Carol Fritz-Parks; and her brother, Curtis B. Huey.

Lori’s memory will live on in the laughter she inspired, the games she loved to play, the encouragement she gave so freely, and the love she shared with her family. Her life was one of perseverance, heart, and unmistakable personality, and those who knew her will carry her with them always.
