Lyle Bernard Lancaster, 92, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

He was born September 23, 1933, in Sabetha, Kansas, the son of Loren and Florence (Bestwick) Lancaster. He was a 1951 graduate of Sabetha High School and attended Kansas State University. He served in the United States Army from March 9, 1955 until being honorably discharged on March 8, 1957.

Lyle was a self-employed painter and carpenter for over 30 years until retiring.

He attended Grace United Methodist Church in Topeka. He had served as president and was a member of the Active Prime Timers in Topeka and American Legion Post No 400 of North Topeka.

Lyle married Barbara Hoffman in Washington D.C. To this union were born four children who survive, Allen (Connie) Lancaster of Spindale, NC, Julie (Brian) Lancaster Burenheide of Sabetha, Jerry Lancaster of Spindale, NC and Evan Lancaster of Topeka; eight grandchildren; and his sister, Joyce Lancaster of Lawrence, KS. Lyle and Barbara later divorced. He later married Rozan Zweifel. She preceded him in death. He is also survived by his companion, Freda DeWitt of Topeka and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Edith Arlene Lancaster.

Lyle loved people, meeting and talking with them and enjoying their company. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, golfing and was an avid K-State and K.C. Chiefs Fan.

Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A private family service will be at Shawnee Center Cemetery, Wakarusa, KS. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
