Mary Anne Corcoran, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, peacefully passed away on June 27, 2026, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on August 4, 1941, in Manhattan, New York, Mary’s life was defined by warmth, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family.
For 62 years, Mary proudly called New York her home. Her life’s journey led her to new places and faces, yet she always carried the heart of a true New Yorker—resilient, gracious, and endlessly caring.
Mary will be deeply mourned by her daughters, Dorothy Harnisch, Elizabeth (Kenny) Jordan, Alice Mary Harnisch, and Melody (Michael) Rosencutter; son, Christopher Shams; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy into her life; and numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her kindness and guidance with great affection.
Mary’s heart and memory are held close by her surviving family, even as she is reunited in rest with those who preceded her in passing: her beloved husband, Robert Fultz; her daughters, Theresa DeLaVergne and April Harnisch; her son, Thomas Shams; her brother; and four sisters. Their legacies intertwine with hers, a testament to a family bound by enduring love.
A woman of many interests, Mary found happiness in painting and crafts, always drawn to the beauty of flowers and nurtured plants that brightened her surroundings. She delighted in word searches and reading, enjoyed countless games of cards and Bingo, and often found solace or laughter watching the Hallmark Channel. Simple pleasures, like shopping, brought her moments of joy, and her home was a testament to a life richly lived through meaningful moments and cherished hobbies.
Those who knew Mary were touched by her warmth, sense of humor, and the gentle joy she brought to every occasion. Her compassion, creativity, and wisdom leave a profound legacy within her family and all who called her a friend.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Mary’s remarkable life during a Visitation on July 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66610. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 6:00 p.m., also at Southwest Chapel.
